World Record Challenge
The first male and first female athletes in the Championship, Open or Masters divisions to set a new confirmed World record on the 25K course will receive a $5,000 bonus. Also, the first male and female athletes in the Wheelchair division to set a new confirmed World record on the 25K course will receive a $5,000 bonus.
The current male 25K World record (1:13:44) is held by Rodgers Rop (KEN), set in Berlin, Germany on May 6, 2001. The current female 25K World record (1:22:31) is held by Naoko Takahashi (JPN), set at the real Berlin Marathon (split) in Germany on September 30, 2001.
The men's 25K Wheelchair record was set by Krege Schabort (SA), at River Bank Run 2002 (51:30). The female 25K Wheelchair record is held by American Jean Driscoll (1:02:33), set at River Bank Run 1995. The 25K Wheelchair quad division record (1:04:28) is held by Santiago Sanz (AL), set at the FIfth Third River Bank Run 2006.
