5K RUN

The 5K USATF-certified run offers two non-gender specific heats in 2012, with finish times merged for results and awards.  Heat A (for both males and females) starts at 7:00 am.  Heat B of the 5K Run starts at 7:30 am. Please indicate your preferred start time when you register.  For the safety of all 5K runners, baby joggers, bicycles, roller blades, skateboards and animals are not allowed in the 5K Run.

5K Run Entry Fees and Deadlines

  • Registration is $28 from October 15, 2011 through January 31, 2012; $33 from February 1 through April 27; and $38 from April 28 (online only) through May 7, and on May 11.
  • 5K Run registration fees for those 12 years of age and younger by race day, May 12, 2012 are as follows:  $18 from October 15, 2011 through January 31, 2012; $23 from February 1 through April 27; and $28 from April 28 (online only) through May 7, and on May 11.
  • Late Registration on May 11, 2012 from 11 am to 8 pm available during Late Registration/Packet Pick-up held in conjunction with the Sports & Fitness Expo and Fashion Show at the DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids (303 Monroe Avenue NW) for $38 or $28 (age 12 and under) per 5K runner. NO REGISTRATION AVAILABLE ON May 12, 2012 (RACE DAY)! Packet Pick-up will be available at DeVos Place on May 12, 2012 beginning at 6:00 am.
  • Confirming registration information will be mailed to everyone submitting an entry by April 20, 2012. Those submitting registrations after April 20, 2012 will not be mailed a confirmation. Online registration search will be available in February.

If you already have too many cotton t-shirts in your dresser drawers, this offer is for you! Select the Technical Shirt ($15 upgrade) or Runner's Cap ($8 upgrade) option at time of entry.  You'll receive a short-sleeve, black Technical Shirt (same design as white Cotton) or Runner's Cap (royal blue, Fifth Third River Bank Run logo) instead of the traditional 100% Cotton t-shirt at Late Registration/Packet Pickup at DeVos Place.

5K Run Age Divisions
Age divisions for males and females are: 13 and under, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29,30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80+.  All 5K Run participants will received a t-shirt, finisher lapel pin, post-race refreshments and a free beverage ticket for the Michelob Ultra Post-Race Party Village on Calder Plaza.

5K Awards
The number of awards is three deep in each age division. All awards will be mailed within 21 business days following the May 12, 2012 event.
