Run/Walk for Charity

The Fifth Third River Bank Run has named the American Red Cross, GR Wheelchair Sports Association, Hospice of Michigan Pediatric Hospice Program, In the Image and Safe Haven Ministries our of the 60 organizations which applied in September as Charity Partners.  These groups join Degage Ministries, Gilda's Club Grand Rapids, Kent County Girls on the Run, Kids' Food Basket and My Team Triumph in marketing their missions to 2010 Fifth Third River Bank Run participants, volunteers and sponsors.

The YMCA's "Strong Kids Campaign" provides individuals with financial assistance to participate in activities and services they could not have otherwise afforded. One component of the Strong Kids Campaign is "Healthy U" -- an after-school program that provides social and behavioral interventions for at-risk students, grades K-8th.

Hospice of Michigan Pediatric Hospice
Hospice of Michigan’s mission is to ensure quality of life, comfort, and peace for our patients and provide support for their loved ones during their end-of-life experience. We will serve everyone in our communities who needs and seeks our care and strive to improve the state of comfort care. The Pediatric Program is focused on carrying out the mission of Hospice of Michigan for children who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, and for parents who have learned that their child may be born with a life-limiting condition.

The Image provides free gently used clothing, furniture, and household items to families in need in a manner that enhances dignity, embraces choice, encourages participation and builds a community of diversity.

Kent County Girls on the Run
Our program promotes healthy living, self-esteem and strong values through exercise and mentoring. Girls in 3rd through 8th grade learn life skills and health education while training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event.

Kids Food Basket
Kids Food Basket is a hunger relief agency in Grand Rapids, MI that provides food insecure children an evening meal each weekday at the end of the school day. The children we serve attend schools where 80% or above of students live at or below the poverty level.

myTEAM TRIUMPH is an athletic ride-along program created for children, teens, adults and veterans with disabilities who would normally not be able to experience endurance events such as triathlons or road races.

Since 1990, Safe Haven Ministries has been providing comprehensive domestic violence services and emergency shelter in Kent County to more than 5,000 women and children who have experienced domestic abuse.
